Sir,
With reference to this office letter No. 20/" Gen. No./4302 (A.G.1) dated 3rd September, I am commanded by the Army Council to inform you that it is proposed that the men of the Special Labour Corps (Chinese) should be clothed in uniform
clothing of blue serge, and to request that the
Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Hong Kong be informed to that effect by cable and asked for his
recommendation as to the other articles of clothing considered necessary, including underclothing,
boota, &c., and to suggest that a suitable Chinese hat of military pattern be supplied locally; also that he will be good enough to give a general idea
as to the sizes of clothing required, whether it
should be sent from England and, if so, to what
destination,
